What interested you in working for KMA?

I learned about KMA through my relationship with KMA HR Consultant Emily Tibbets. After three years out of the workforce raising my son, I was looking for an opportunity with an organization that was flexible and that allowed me to work remotely. I really liked what I learned about KMA and how they support work/life balance, which I think is very important.

Why did you choose to work in HR?

I’ve always been interested in matching the right person with the right job or career path. It’s something I’m passionate about. When it’s done right, both the individual and organization win. I find that very satisfying.

I am motivated by being a part of an organization that strives towards the greater good. I have to be passionate about what I do. I believe in integrity, a commitment to innovation and excellence, and maintaining a work/life balance.

What do you like best about your work as an HR Professional?

It’s a thrill to have people say “yes” to a position. That means I’ve been able to both help that person find what’s next for him or her, as well as meet the needs of the organization. I’m also thrilled when people grow and do well in their new positions.

What’s one takeaway from your HR work that you’d like to share with others?

One of my business mentors once told me, “You can’t eat an elephant in just one bite.” He was always fond of saying, “It takes six months to learn and another six months to apply what you’ve learned.” It’s sage advice that has served me well, reminding me that I can’t expect to accomplish everything all at once.

Tell us a little about yourself…

I live in Biddeford with my husband of 11 years and our 5-year old son. One of my life’s passions is animals. We have three kittens of our own, and I volunteer regularly with Another Chance Animal Rescue.
