KMA Human Resources Consulting is sponsoring the “OutRUN 38” Kids Fun Run in Madison, Connecticut on Saturday, August 2, 2014. The Fun Run is part of a larger 5K race and fundraising effort to raise funds for The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.
“KMA hopes people in Maine and throughout New England will take up the challenge of running or some form of physical fitness to raise funds for this important cause,” explains KMA’s Kim Anania. “That’s why we decided to become a major sponsor of the OutRUN 38 Kids Fun Run, and why we’re issuing a challenge to individual runners and teams of runners in Maine and all over New England to pay it forward by getting sponsors and participating in the overall OutRUN 38 effort either at home or at the August 2 event.”
Kim’s best friend, Liz Shuman, was diagnosed at age 8 with Cystic Fibrosis. At the time of Liz’s diagnosis, the life expectancy of children with CF was age 12 years. Life expectancy is now 38 years . . . and growing. Liz celebrates her 38th birthday on September 6, 2014.
OutRUN 38 originally intended to act as a hub where runners could post news of their sponsored runs on Facebook, with a collective goal 38,000 miles and some $3,800 for The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. Shortly after OutRUN 38’s Facebook page launch, people from all over the world began to join the group and share news of their runs, spreading the word in support of “Team Liz.” To celebrate Cystic Fibrosis Awareness Month in May, the goal was revised to 380,000 miles!
Registration for the OutRUN 38 5K & Family Fun Run starts at 8:00 am. The Fun Run begins at 8:45 am at “The Lawn” at First Congregational Church at 26 Meeting House Lane, Madison, and the 5K Race begins at 9:15 am.
