Kathie Leonard, President and CEO, Auburn Manufacturing
What have you learned about the responsibilities of leadership in a time of crisis?
“I’ve found that leading during a crisis requires a huge amount of energy — not just to react, but to not overreact to each shockwave that comes our way. While it’s tempting to make quick decisions, I feel that I have a responsibility to get the facts and consider our options before making big changes regarding our people and our work. Staying close to our people during such times might make me a mother hen, but it shows folks they’re being supported and it bolsters my energy level and courage to move forward during uncertain times.”
