The U.S. Department of Labor has released a revised version of the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) poster, which is required to be posted by all covered employers* in a conspicuous location where employees and applicants for employment can see it.

The new version, dated April 2016, contains the same information as the previous version, but has been reorganized to be more reader-friendly. The DOL has confirmed that the previous February 2013 version of the FMLA poster is still acceptable and can be used to fulfill the posting requirement.

In addition, the agency issued a new guide for employers regarding the FMLA. The Employer’s Guide to the Family and Medical Leave Act is intended to help employers better navigate and administer the FMLA.

*FMLA applies to all:

  • Public agencies, including State, local and Federal employers, and local education agencies (schools); and,
  • Private sector employers who employ 50 or more employees for at least 20 workweeks in the current or preceding calendar year, including joint employers and successors of covered employers.
