How important has mentorship been in your career?
“Having a mentor has been so important to me as an immigrant. I needed a coach to help me navigate the system, because I didn’t know how it worked. I needed help with interviewing and understanding how to translate my background and experience to a potential employer. Now I am in the role of advocating for my community and working with employers so they understand our needs and can guide and support us in the workplace. There is a fear of being open and embracing other cultures, so I work to establish a close cultural dialogue which is necessary to address our mutual needs and be successful together.”
