you may be the light.” – Rumi

Given the tragedy that unfolded last week in Lewiston, I wanted to extend my deepest sympathies to our many clients, friends, and friends of friends who were impacted. Maine is a small but very strong community, and we are deeply connected. We have been inspired to see the way Lewiston-Auburn residents have banded together in solidarity – focusing on love and healing at such a difficult time. It’s true that we Mainers have grit and tenacity, and in this moment, it’s been on full display for the entire world to see.
While the tragic event itself may be over, the trauma is still very much with us. For anyone who is uncertain how to support employee needs while maintaining operations at times like these, we posted this article on What Employers Should Know About Trauma in the Workplace from the pros at the HR Support Center. I hope it offers some helpful advice and a way through the grief.
In addition, if you or someone you know is struggling, text, call or chat “988” to be connected with a professional who can offer support 24/7.
Looking Ahead to 2024
Each year in Q4 the team at KMA is focused on year-end best practices for our clients, as well as planning for what’s ahead in the year to come. To be sure, there will be challenges, but let’s focus on the opportunities. We’ve got a pulse on some of the trends that are set to influence workforce management and recruitment strategies in 2024. This article details what we’re forecasting.
As business leaders, it’s our responsibility to proactively navigate these trends and build organizations that are adaptable and poised for growth and success in the years to come. As always, KMA is your partner in preparing for the future by nurturing your most valuable asset: your people. Please reach out to us if we can help you plan strategically for 2024. It is just around the corner.
I’m also thinking about the holiday gatherings ahead, spending time with loved ones, and the gratitude mindset that helps ground me through good times and bad, through feast and famine. That’s what Thanksgiving is all about, and with all that’s going on in the world right now, we need grounding more than ever.
On behalf of the whole team at KMA, I wish you and yours a peaceful and resilient Thanksgiving – and solace for those whose Thanksgiving tables will feature empty chairs.
💛
