The Internal Revenue Service has extended the deadline by 30 days for employers to distribute Affordable Care Act (ACA) health coverage reporting forms to employees. Employers required to offer health coverage under ACA (self-insured and employers with 50 or more full-time equivalents) must provide this health coverage information form to employees annually.
The new deadline to provide employees with information on their 2017 coverage is March 2, 2018. Deadlines for reporting coverage to the IRS have not changed. The 2017 reporting deadlines are as follows:
ACA Heath Coverage Reporting Deadlines
March 2, 2018: 1095-B or 1095-C forms delivered to employees
February 28, 2018: Paper filing to IRS
April 2, 2018: Electronic filing to IRS
The IRS has also extended transition relief from penalties for incorrect or incomplete information reported on the statements if employers can show they have made good-faith efforts to comply with the ACA reporting requirements for 2017.
